Matt Turek Matt Turek, Program Manager at DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
Short bio: Dr. Turek is leading a new DARPA program on ethical AI, the first major DARPA program to focus on ethical, autonomous reasoning. He is the program manager of Semantic Forensics, a program on combating disinformation in multimedia, and Explainable AI, a major sub-area of ethical AI.
Hanghang Tong Hanghang Tong, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Short bio: Dr. Tong is an associate professor in the department of computer science at UIUC and he was elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2021. He is leading an NSF-Amazon project on fairness AI (FAI) entitled "Towards a Computational Foundation for Fair Network Learning" in 2020. Dr. Tong has authored/co-authored more than 100 refereed articles and is the Editor-in-Chief for SIGKDD Explorations (ACM).
Jian Kang Jian Kang, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Short bio: Jian Kang is a final-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He received his M.CS. degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia in 2016 and B.Eng. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2014. His research interests lie in fair learning and mining on graphs. His research works on related topics have been published at several major conferences and journals in data mining and artificial intelligence (e.g., KDD, WWW, CIKM, TKDE, TVCG). He is the recipient of Mavis Future Faculty Fellowship and three reviewer awards (ICML’20, ICLR’21, CIKM’21). Kang Jian will give the keynote talk on behalf of Dr. Hanghang Tong.
Huan Liu Huan Liu, Arizona State University
Short bio: Dr. Liu is a professor of computer science and engineering at Arizona State University. He is a Fellow of ACM, AAAI, AAAS, and IEEE. His research interests include causal learning, text/Web mining, bioinformatics, image mining, etc. Dr. Liu is a senior research scholar in machine learning and data mining and he serves as an Editor-in-Chief for ACM TIST, Frontiers in Big Data and DMM.
